Electrode: steel/ hot dip galvanized
Bolt: steel, grade 8.8/ hot dip galvanized
Nut: steel, grade 10/ hot dip galvanized
This electrode is used for the arcing protection of 380 kV-V- suspension strings in conjunction with forked arcing rings being installed on the tower-sided end and in the middle of the string and in conjunction with forked horn rings being installed on the line-sided end of the string.
The electrode is a steel bar which is fastened by means of a bolt set on the tower crossarm. In case of overvoltages the flashover will happen between the electrode and the horns of the line-sided protective fittings. In case of creepage flashover the arc will be first taken over by the forked arcing rings and will pass over with its upper foot to the electrode after the cascaded arc has merged into the full arc. After this the arc will burn in a long distance from the insulators inside the Vee between one horn of the line-sided protective fittings and the electrode.
The electrode is bolted by means of the supplied bolt set to the crossarm. At this the electrode has to be oriented vertically and the nuts of the bolt set have to be tightened with a torque of M t = 190 Nm.
If the crossarm is coated with paint or strongly corroded the contact face has to be cleaned by means of a steel brush.
